S.J.TC. Alumnae Association had its
most recent A.G.M. on Saturday July 7, 2007 at the McDonald Hall in the
college. Happily there were some new faces and weren't we the old ones
glad to see them and put them to work? Thirty-five of us prayed, snag,
listened to reports, asked questions, shared ides and voted. Registration
and collection of dues started at 9:00 am.
Mrs. Dorrell Lawrence was again returned to the position of president,
although she had often repeated that she was giving up. M. Gloria Jospehs
often times V.P. agreed to be assistant corresponding secretary, and Mrs.
Clanne Stewart, this time round, corresponding secretary. Ms. Enid
Robotham eventually gave up as secretary. When asked how many years in
that position, she began counting her fingers and toes. Newcomer Mrs.
Charlene Taylor succeeds her and capable Mrs. Althea Fullerton continues
into her fourth year as treasurer.
A less happy note - Mrs. Joy Carter means it this time - she has
definitely given up as corresponding secretary. After all, ten years is
long enough! Her repertoire of jokes and everything humorous is endless.
Sorry for you Miss. Clarine, what a mountain you have to climb! Good for
you, your assistant likes to write. Anyhow Joy, you will be ever there
for us, because you cannot be a non Josephite.
And what do you expect after all that meeting-behaviour? We again sat
down at a different spot to a sumptuous lunch and plenty chit chat.
Hope United Church hosted us at their Church service on July 29, 2007. I
wouldn't think that sixteen beautiful attired alumnae members did not
make a statement. Of course we gave our special offering and Dorrell's
greetings swelled our hearts as usual. We were well welcomed.
Our annual Home-coming Luncheon took place at the Terra Nova Hotel this
year. "It was good to be here", some remarked. Mrs. Amina Blackwood-Meeks
kept our interest with her lively wit and humour. Thank you Miss. Amina;
Miss Gloria will keep a tab on you ..... Did we make money? It is a
getting together affair - home-coming. We had a full house of 107 alumnae
and friends. Good to see so many new faces. Put the occasion in your
diary for 2008.
